Brief Conceits is an experiment in writing, and a work in progress. It is a place where I post stories, poetry, drawings, comics and other creative endeavors. But it is also a means by which I try to improve myself, get myself into the habit of writing all the time, and share some of it with others. Sometimes the results are good, sometimes they are not. It’s all a part of growing.

The most common posts you will find on Brief Conceits are the 101 word short stories. Some argue that many of 101 word stories posted are not actually stories, but merely parts of stories. This just leads into a big discussion about what truly is “story” in which I will cowardly assert that story can in fact exist even if it does not have all the constituent parts that we commonly associate with stories like “plot” or “sense”.

I should also mention that the concept of 101 word stories is not original to me. I was stolen directly from inspired by Brendan Adkins at anacrusis. I highly recommend his site.

Brief Conceits is updated on a not entirely strict schedule of 4-5 times a week. While the blog is an experiment in writing, and something to force me to write on a regular basis, sometimes life gets in the way, or I can’t write anything that even gets past my low standard of quality. I would rather wait a day and post something halfway decent when it comes to that.
